Monofocal Lens
Monofocal lenses are specifically designed to correct distance vision and are commonly used in standard/NHS cataract surgery to replace the eye’s natural cataractous or clear lens. They provide clear long-range vision, although patients will always still need glasses for reading at near distance or for close-up tasks e.g. reading a menu, looking at your smartphone and looking at the dashboard of your car..
Premium Multifocal/Trifocal Lens
Multifocal/trifocal intra-ocular lenses can restore vision across three focal points – near, intermediate and far – making them the best option if you want to try and eliminate the need for spectacles altogether. Multifocal/trifocal lenses are not covered by insurance companies and may not suitable for certain lifestyles and will be discussed with you in detail at your consultation with Sharmina Khan.
Premium Toric Lens
Toric lenses are designed to correct corneal astigmatism – a condition in which your eye is not spherical like a football, but more of a rugby ball in shape, meaning light focuses in more than one place. Toric intraocular lenses are incorporated into both monofocal and multifocal lenses and require expert placement to ensure the astigmatism is properly addressed. These lenses are not covered by insurance companies.
